THE Lithgow Women’s Hockey Association was proud to present the Bev Wren MemorialUmpire of the Year award to recipients Jemaya Staines and Alysha Anderson following the 2016 season grand finals.

Daughter of Bev,Christine, was unfortunately unavailable to attend the presentation.

Both Alysha and Jemaya have had a huge season. Jemaya umpired at the Under 18, Open Women’sand Under 15 State tournaments while Alysha umpired under 18 Women and Under 15 Girlstournaments.

From their outstanding performances at these tournaments, they were nominated to umpire at theNational Under 13 Girls hockey tournament in Perth.

Unfortunately due to Jemaya sitting her HSCand Alysha’s work commitments, both had to withdraw.

Alysha and Jemaya also umpire in the Western Premier League, locally in the senior and juniorcompetitions.

You can also find them either umpiring or assisting with coaching juniors on a Saturdaymorning.

These umpires have a great future and the joint presentation was well deserved.

Bev Wren was a stalwart to Lithgow Hockey. Bev was one of the original members who built theLithgow Hockey Clubhouse, took many positions on the Lithgow Clubhouse and Grounds Committee,Lithgow Women’s Hockey Association, Highlanders Hockey Club, who changed their name toLithgow Workmens Club, now known as Workies.

Bev was a State A Umpire who encouraged andsupported many up and coming umpires over her years.
