Earlier in the year,Keven Bradford hit out at council and John Holland over therepair work carried out on the area and said it wasa “disgrace” andof no benefit to people in motorised scooters or wheelchairs.

Several months on and asphalt has startedbreaking away from the track, creating large gaps and patches, which is becoming problematic for people usingthe crossing.

“The repair job was a waste of time and money, it is 10times worse than what itwas before they touched it, usingthe crossing comes at a great difficulty for people inmotorisedscooters and wheelchairs.” MrBradford said.

Mr Bradford, whorequireda mobility scooter after losing his leg in 2012, hasbeen pushing for the crossing to be cemented instead of tarred for two years.

“I am calling on council to stop ignoring us and our needs and consult with the access committee before carrying out any work,’ he said.

Council said they are committed to repairing and maintaining roads and footpaths, however they are unable to undertake workon pedestrian crossings over the rail networkexplaining that this maintenancebelongs to thecrossing infrastructure thatJohn Holland is responsible for.

“Council can only work on the path network that approaches the crossing and will continue to liaise with John Holland.”Phil King,Director Infrastructure and Operations, said.

“The access committee has been consulted in the past and will continue to be the primary stakeholders for access issues.

“The infrastructure manager, John Holland are bound by the methods approved by the asset owner and railway pedestrian crossings are not simple, as the primary function is for rolling stock to pass through on the rails.”

MrBradford said it doesn’t matter who does the work as long as it is done and done fast.

“It has to be done properly, it has to be cemented.

“The pedestrian crossing on CrossingStreet should be cemented like the crossing on Wakaden Street andKooringal Avenue,” headded
